Drive for Innovation

In 2011, the Avnet Express Chevy Volt came to ESC Boston!

Drive for Innovation is an inspired initiative in partnership between Avnet Express and UBM Electronics. The program, a first-of-its kind media project, is designed to showcase electronics innovation and automotive system design anchored by a cross-country journey in a Chevrolet Volt. The 12-month initiative will celebrate innovative people, products and places in electronics and technology.

Anchored by a year-long cross-country journey in a General Motors Chevrolet Volt, Drive for Innovation features EE Times Editorial Director Brian Fuller driving a fire-engine-red Volt to innovation hubs across America interviewing engineers, entrepreneurs, innovators, students and the occasional “mad scientist” and blogging and posting video updates about their experiences. As the ultimate road trip unfolds, Brian will highlight the inspiring stories and also detail the electronics innovation behind the Chevrolet Volt and the future for plug-in electric cars.

The multi-faceted program is anchored by this website, which features content from the road trip, a drive tracker and an interactive map that highlights the tour as well as games and prizes to fuel community engagement.

The road trip will begin in Chicago in July and will make several stops over the upcoming year. We want you to be a part of this very exciting program, and we will keep you posted if the Volt is coming near you. Please follow the “Drive for Innovation” program and the Chevrolet Volt travel across the Nation at www.driveforinnovation.com and on Facebook and Twitter.
